H.L Counseling Enterprise, Inc. is owned and operated by Dr. Hakeem Lumumba, PhD. He has over 40 years of clinical experience. In addition, he has been an educator for over 30 years at various institutions. Dr. Lumumba is currently an Adjunct Instructor, at the University of South Alabama (Mobile, Alabama), College of Education and Professional Studies, Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences and he is an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of South Alabama (Mobile, Alabama), Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine.
Dr. Lumumba has held Administrative Positions at Henry Ford Health System and presently, he is serving as the USA Health, Department of Family Medicine, Director of Behavioral Health in Mobile, Alabama.
Dr. Lumumba received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counseling from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Lumumba is a Licensed Professional Counselor (Michigan & Alabama), Licensed Master Social Worker (Michigan), Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (Michigan & Alabama), Certified Clinical Supervisor (Michigan and Alabama), National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and Master Addiction Counselor (NAADC). In addition, he is a Motivational Interviewer Train the Trainer, a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) for the Department of Transportation, a Health Professional Recovery Program (HPRP) (Michigan) evaluator, and a Health Management System of America (HMSA) Gambling Program Provider.Finally, he is dedicated to the wellbeing of his clients and staff.

Crystal is currently the Vice President of H.L. Counseling Enterprise, Inc. She has a strong background and passion in early childhood education and development. She has over 10 years of experience working with children and families in various settings, such as healthcare, teaching and research. She has implemented educational curricula, facilitated child development assessments, built and maintained relationships with staff and families, trained and supervised teaching assistants. She creates goals with families and helps find supportive resources to help achieve their goal/come out of a situation that may be holding them back.
Crystal is flexible, willing to learn, and eager to utilize her skills and experiences. She received her Bachelor’s in Arts degree in Public Relations from Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan) in 2008 and she received her Master’s in Science degree in Child Development from Erikson Institute (Chicago, Illinois) in 2015.

De’Sha Gragg is currently a Senior Staff for H.L. Counseling Enterprise, Inc. She is a proactive professional with over three years of experience in program coordination, stakeholder communication, and operational management. De’Sha is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology (minor in Sociology) from Athens State University (Athens, Alabama). She will begin working towards her Master of Business Administration degree at the University of North Alabama (Florence, Alabama) in 2026.
In her career she has developed policies, managed client relations, and overseen corporate-sponsored educational programs, to ensure compliance, efficiency, and measurable impact. Her background in hospitality further strengthens her leadership, team development, and customer service expertise.
With strengths in strategic planning, policy development, and financial stewardship, De’Sha is passionate about advancing organizations that provide psychological services, bringing both operational excellence and behavioral insight to support growth and client well-being.

Ms. Jenkins possesses extensive experience in healthcare leadership, community engagement, and innovative patient care, which guarantees a thorough and meticulous approach in her capacity as Senior Consultant at H.L. Counseling Enterprise, Inc.
As Co-Owner and Senior Consultant at a multi-level Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Hospital, she supervises the development and implementation of evidence-based rehabilitation programs that emphasize patient-centered care and enhanced outcomes. Ms. Jenkins’ proficiency in guiding practitioners through emerging technologies and innovative treatment strategies ensures that patients receive the most advanced and effective therapies available.
Beyond her contributions in healthcare operations, she is an active community leader. Ms. Jenkins engages as a member of an Alumni Board, where she organizes and directs events that foster meaningful connections and enhance alumni engagement. Her passion for supporting senior citizens is evident in her provision of resources and programs that promote healthy aging and active lifestyles.
Furthermore, Ms. Jenkins' leadership extends to the domain of education, where she has successfully coordinated volunteers for a local private school, focusing on the recruitment, training, and management of teams to execute impactful events.
